Prevention is Step One

Since our relationship has the potential to be a long one, it is important that treatment goals be set whereby your oral health will improve rather than deteriorate, resulting in tooth loss. With the knowledge we have today, it is possible with your cooperation to improve your oral health to the point where the need for the services of a dentist can be minimal. Excellent oral health is created by a harmony of five factors: teeth, gum and bone support, occlusion (the way the upper and lower teeth come together), jaw joint and muscles that cause the lower jaw to function and the patient’s attention to good home care. Without this harmony, tooth loss as well as oral disease will occur.

The most important service that I can offer to you is a through diagnosis. It is important that we know what is normal and abnormal in your mouth, but is far more important that we know why it is this way. Through a careful study of our examination, x-rays and diagnostic casts, and by correlating this information with your past dental and medical history, we can more accurately predict the future. The health and appearance of your mouth is very closely associated with your total health and appearance. Faulty appearance and functions can create problems affecting both your physical and emotional health.

Relaxation

We strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Dr. Skeels has had additional training in delivering pain-free dentistry. We also offer sedation options for those who prefer sedated treatment.
